Installing The Maintenance Kit
Step 1
 Install/Replace the Paper Feed Rollers
Solution: Install/Replace the Transfer Roller

  1. Before proceeding, power off the printer and disconnect the power cord.

    2. Power off the printer, disonnect power cord

        Caution: The fuser is hot. To avoid personal injury, allow the fuser to cool for 30 minutes.

    Cooling time

  2. Open the top cover.

    3. Open top cover

  3. Remove the print cartridge to access the transfer roller.

    4. Remove print cartridge

    Caution    Do not expose the print cartridge to any light source for more than 15 minutes. Prolonged exposure to light may damage the print cartridge. Cover the cartridge with a light shield. Do not touch the shiny blue roller.

  4. Press down the top orange release latches, and keep a steady hold on the bottom orange tabs.

  5. While holding both ends of the roller, pull it towards you and lift it out.

    6. Pulling out the roller

  6. Remove the new roller from its packaging. Expose the black roller but do not touch it with your hand.

    7. Remove new roller from packaging

  7. Insert the new roller into the printer.

    8. Inserting new roller into printer

  8. Make sure the roller is seated. Push the top latches until they lock in place.

    9. Seat the roller

  9. Insert the print cartridge back into the printer.

    10. Inserting print cartridge

  10. To complete the Maintenance Kit installation, Replace the Feed Rollers and Replace the Fuser.

Solution: Install/Replace the Fuser

  1. Power off the printer, and disconnect the power cord.

    2. Power off the printer, disonnect power cord

        Caution: The fuser is hot. To avoid personal injury, allow the fuser to cool for 30 minutes.

    Cooling time

  2. If installed, open the duplex unit. Open the rear cover to access the fuser.

    3. Open duplex option

    Open rear cover
  3. Press down on the latches to unlock the fuser.

    4. Unlock fuser

  4. Remove the fuser from the printer.

    5. Remove fuser from printer

  5. Remove the new fuser from the shipping packaging.

    6. Remove fuser from shipping packaging

  6. Slide the fuser into the printer until the two triangle points on the right are aligned.

    7. Slide fuser into printer

  7. Lift up the latches to lock the fuser into place. The latches must be fully locked.

    8. Locking the fuser

  8. Close the rear cover. If installed, close the duplex unit.

    9. Closing rear cover, and duplex unit

  9. Plug in the power cord, and power on the printer.

    10. Plugging in, and powering on

  10. The front panel display shows Ready to Print.

  11. Reset the fuser life with the front panel menu and the arrow keys;

    1. Highlight Information and press OK.
    2. Highlight Supplies Info and press OK.
    3. Highlight Reset Fuser Life and press OK.
    4. Highlight Reset Fuser Life NOW and press OK.

  12. Print the Supplies Usage page;

    1. Highlight Information and press OK.
    2. Highlight Information Pages and press OK.
    3. Highlight Supplies Usage Page and press OK.

  13. Under the Routine Maintenance Item selection, verify the installed date for the fuser.

  14. To complete the Maintenance Kit installation, Replace the Feed Rollers and Replace the Transfer Roller.
